Tejpal’s lawyers Geeta Luthra and Pramod Dubey mentioned the case before Justice G.S. Sistani, which is likely to be heard on Tuesday.
Goa Police have registered an FIR against Tejpal for allegedly molesting a woman colleague in a Panaji hotel early this month when the Tehelka group was holding its annual ThinkFest.
Meanwhile, Goa Police on Monday said they have established contact with the woman journalist who has accused Tejpal of sexual assault, even as the state women’s commission demanded the arrest of Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury for trying to protect the editor-in-chief.
Deputy Inspector General of Police O.P. Mishra Monday read out a statement at a press conference held at the police headquarters in Panaji.
“The investigating officer has established contact with the victim,” Mishra said.
The officer did not take any questions, but requested the media not to put out information in the public domain that would harm or violate the privacy of the complainant.
The woman journalist, in her complaint to Chaudhury, had said that Tejpal sexually assaulted her twice in an elevator in the Club House section of the Grand Hyatt five-star resort here during the news magazine’s ThinkFest conference. The Goa State Women’s Commission on Monday demanded the arrest of Chaudhury for repeatedly trying to protect Tejpal.
“Everytime her version is changing. She seems to be protecting Tejpal rather than the victim. She should be arrested for this,” said commission chairperson Vidya Seth.
