Trivandrum: Decks were cleared for two murder accused to contest the local body polls in Kerala with the high court on Friday relaxing their bail condition barring them from entering the area of the crime.
Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan, accused number 7 and 8 in Thalassery Fazal murder case, will be contesting the election on Communist Party of India (Marxist) ticket in Kannur district. While Rajan's name is being considered for Kannur district panchayat, Chandrasekharan's name has been proposed for Thalassery municipality.
The high court has permitted them to visit the Kannur district on October 12 to file their nominations. The two had surrendered in 2012 after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation of the brutal murder of Muhammed Fazal in a public road at Thalaserry on October 22, 2006.
They were granted bail on the condition that they will not leave Ernakulam district.
