The UAE Red Crescent has helped restore a key hospital east of Aden. The Specialist Al Jumhuriayah Hospital, known as Queen Elizabeth Hospital, is located in the district of Khormaksar, east of Aden governorate.
Al Jumhuriayah Hospital is the biggest and oldest hospital of the southern Yemeni governorates.
It was opened in 1958 in the British colonial era with capacity was just 300 beds.
The hospital has been shut down since April 27 when the Houthi militia and Saleh loyalists occupied the city of Khormaksar.
The UAE Red Crescent has carried out the restoration of this and other key hospitals and medical centres in the city after they had been damaged due to the war.
The hospital was reopened to the public on September 16.
The UAE Red Crescent teams have been striving hard to restore the city schools, power stations, water pumps, apart from the other humanitarian and relief works the teams have been assuming since the city was liberated in mid July this year.
