At least five Al Qaeda gunmen were killed and two injured in a US drone strike in Yemen's Hadramout provice on Thursday, a government official said.
Three missiles hit a house in the provincial capital Mukalla, where the Al Qaeda terrorist group has a large presence, the official said on condition of anonymity, Xinhua reported.
Military intelligence sources confirmed that all the dead were active members of Al Qaeda and had engaged in many armed attacks against the armed forces in the province.
The drone attack came one day after Al Qaeda terrorists blew up the headquarters of the Second Regional Military Command in Hadramout and set up several checkpoints in the province's key entrances.
