A video went viral on social media capturing a heart touching moment where Australian police helped a homeless man reunite with his pet rat.
Undoubtedly the homeless man's close companion, 'Lucy' went missing a week ago and a massive search on social media followed. The video of the adorable reunion was shared on Facebook by New South Wales Police Force in Australia with a caption that read: 'Just after 2pm on Saturday 6 April 2019, a homeless man left his pet rat 'Lucy' on a milk crate on Pitt Street while he used a nearby bathroom'. While the man was inside the bathroom, a woman passing by saw Lucy and took her home assuming it had been abandoned.
According to reports in NDTV, police credited its Facebook followers for tracking down Lucy and reuniting her with her rightful owner. They shared the moment the homeless man is present with his pet by a police officer from Sydney City Police Area Command. 'Yup, that's her', the man is hears telling the police officer as he asks Lucy for a kiss.
Since being shared online, the video has been viewed over 900,000 times on Facebook. One Facebook user wrote: 'Bless this wonderful ole man and his beautiful rat! Such a happy ending!! Made me cry', while another wrote: 'I spoke to him on Monday and he was still devastated but hopeful that Lucy would be returned. So wonderful she's back with her owner'.
