In the aftermath of heavy rainfall in some Indian states crocodiles made their way onto flooded streets, terrifying residents. In the latest incident of crocodile sighting, a 15-second video shows a 10-foot long reptile atop a roof of a submerged house in Karnataka.
The video was apparently shot by locals from a distance on Sunday (August 11). However, the huge crocodile slipped into the flooded street before forest officials could rescue it as onlookers threw stones to get the animal off the roof. "The crocodile later slipped into the water and disappeared in an hour as curious crowds approached it and made noise from all around," an official was quoted as saying in NDTV.
Heavy rains and floods killed forty people and more than six lakh have been left homeless in Karnataka. "Since August 1, 40 people have lost their lives, 14 people missing, 5,81,702 people evacuated, 1,168 number of relief camps have been set up and 17 districts and 2028 villages affected," the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre said in a statement.
Recently, in Gujarat's Vadodara a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued a crocodile from a flooded street.
