A Michigan man has baffled police officers after he managed to steal a four-and-a-half-foot ball python from a pet store by hiding it in his pants.
CCTV footage provided by an employee of the 'I Love My Pets' store shows the man walking up to a cage containing the stolen python named Pasta. Wearing black shirt, the man then puts his hand inside the cage and slowly takes out the python, stuffing it down his pants, according to Rockwood police.
It is reported that the suspect had been asking about snakes and as soon as a store employee stepped away for a moment, he made away with the python, reported Daily Mail. Store employee Emily Scheiwe posted the surveillance footage on Facebook and wrote: 'The staff at I Love My Pets are in disbelief. someone stole our beautiful ball python who had just been adopted and was going home the same day he was stolen'.
The employees added that after stealing the python and stuffing it in his pants, the man wandered around the store calmly and even stopped at the cash register to pay $6 for a rat he bought. Scheiwe said, "I wish he would've bit him, but he's a pretty tame snake. Would've been a much better video if he was on the ground in agony. Instant karma."
The video went viral on social media with many people criticizing the pet store staff for lax attitude and leaving a customer unattended for long.
