WWE has signed its first female superstars from the Middle East and India.
According to an ESPN report, WWE officially announced the signings of Shadia Bseiso from Jordan and Kavita Devi from India on Sunday. The two women were signed into developmental contracts as part of the show's continued expansion and growing popularity. Both women will start their training at the WWE Performance Centre in Orlando, Florida in January.
The report also quotes WWE executive vice president of talent, live events and creative, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque as saying, "Recruiting Shadia and Kavita to join our developmental system underscores WWE's ongoing commitment to building a talent roster as diverse as our fan base. We're confident they will inspire future WWE superstars."
Shadia has a blue-belt in Brazilian jui-jitsu. She also works as a TV presenter. Interestingly, she attracted the attention of the WWE during their tryouts in Dubai earlier this year.
Kavita, on the other hand, is an accomplished powerlifter who won a gold medal for India during the 2016 South Asian games. She also competed in the Mae Young Classic - the WWE's first women-only series.
Watch out for these ladies in the wrestling arena soon.
