The Sharjah Police have arrested a woman and daughter for allegedly torturing their maid to death in Kalba area.

According to Sharjah Police, the suspects requested for an ambulance as their maid was unwell. When the patrol and the ambulance reached the villa, they found the maid already dead.
The patrol notified the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), crime scene officers and forensic experts who confirmed the death of the maid, identified as S.M.

The team immediately shifted the woman's body to forensic laboratory for autopsy to determine the cause of the death. The forensic report revealed that the maid was tortured to death and the police held the family members in custody for interrogation.
However, the head of the family, A.M., denied torturing of the maid. The wife-daughter duo also denied it and claimed that the maid was behaving in strange way.

Suspecting a criminal act, the police continued the probe into the death of the maid.
In the investigation, the police learnt that the maid was the eight one who was brought to work in the house. Seven other maids had run away from the family in the last two years. The police said that the deceased maid also tried to run away and hide in the neighbour's house.

Based on the information gathered, police grilled the mother again. She admitted to the police that they used to beat up the maid continuously for 'misconduct.' The daughter also confessed that she use to beat up the 'stubborn' maid along with her mother.
Based on their confessions, the case has been referred to public prosecution.

Al Matawa added that the police would not tolerate those who violate human rights which is maintained and protected by the authorities in the country.
